NO POST
It's been more than 3 years I have stopped placing posts. The rationale behind the same is DENTIN PRESERVATION.
We encounter cases in our practice where we have no control over the caries destruction. We excavate the caries, open the pulp chamber and shape the canals which is mandatory.
And additionally when we go ahead and make post preparation we are removing additional amount of tooth structure.
Practically it comes to my mind that are we strengthening the tooth or weakening the tooth.
Therefore I follow the technique where no post is placed. How do I do it????? Check out the video. Also check out the cases with at least 2 year follow up.
Note - This can be done only for posterior teeth. I still do a post in anterior teeth because the bonding surface is limited.
